Nigerian content creator and skitmaker, Caterefe, has shared the harrowing story of how his father, a police officer, was fatally shot by armed robbers disguised in military attire during a highway robbery in Ogun State years ago.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Caterefe recalled that his father had just finished his duty and was heading home, choosing to ride a police van to the nearest bus stop near their residence.
“My dad had closed from duty and was heading home but he decided to enter the police van to the nearest bus-stop to our house, we were staying at Ogun State then,” he said.

He explained that during their journey, the vehicle encountered a traffic jam caused by a robbery in progress. Unaware that the men in military camouflage were criminals, his father and colleagues exited the van to investigate, only to be met with gunfire.
“However, they ran into a gridlock and some men in military camouflage were robbing. My dad and his colleagues alighted from the van to check what was going on but immediately the robbers spotted them in police uniform, they opened fire on them. My dad is on YouTube, I saw my dad’s lifeless body on the ground with police uniform,” Caterefe recounted.
Despite the trauma, Caterefe said the tragedy has not deterred his drive to succeed in life and content creation.
“I am no stranger to pain. I have gone through a lot of pains. So, there is no pain that will make me stop my grind,” he added.
The skitmaker’s story sheds light on the personal toll of violent crime on families and highlights his resilience in the face of tragedy.
