Joseph Aloba, father of late singer Mohbad, has maintained that his son will not be buried until a DNA test is carried out to confirm the paternity of the child left behind by the deceased.

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu, Lagos, had earlier ordered a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test to determine whether Liam Aloba is truly Mohbad’s biological son. The directive was issued by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga following an application filed by the late singer’s father.

Speaking in a video shared on his TikTok page, Aloba alleged that some influential figures are attempting to obstruct the process.

“Some powerful people have connived to use Mohbad’s death to frustrate me. After the toxicology was done, nothing came out of it, and now they have gone to pick a questionable DNA centre,” he said.

He further revealed that he is considering moving the case out of Lagos State, stating that he would consult his legal team on the possibility.

“If possible, we will seek to transfer the case from Lagos to Ekiti State. I will consult my lawyer on that,” he added.

Reaffirming his position, Aloba appealed to the Lagos State Government to allow him proceed with the burial, stressing that the DNA test remains a crucial requirement.

“I am calling on the Lagos State Government to allow me to bury my son, but without DNA, we cannot proceed. It is part of the evidence,” he said.

He also called on the public to support his demand, noting that the outcome of the test is essential to resolving key issues surrounding the case.

Meanwhile, the family’s legal representative, Oladayo Ogungbe, had earlier raised concerns about the capability of some laboratories selected for the test. According to him, the court directed that the DNA analysis be conducted in three agreed facilities to ensure transparency.

The approved laboratories include DNA Diagnostics Centre, AlphaBiolabs, and Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited, although questions have reportedly been raised about the technical capacity of some of them.

Mohbad died in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, sparking widespread reactions and ongoing legal disputes involving his estate, royalties, and the paternity of his child. His son, Liam, was born in April 2023, just months before his death, and the issue continues to draw public attention.
