The former England player with 39 caps for England said on the eve of Ipswich’s last league game that the time was right and his body was saying to quit, but he’s focused on his current team achieving promotion.
Young’s career started with Watford in 2003 before a stint at Aston Villa, then to Manchester United, where he achieved massive success and won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Europa League.

He played abroad with Inter Milan, where he won Serie A, before moving back to Everton for a spell.
He then signed for Ipswich Town in 2025 and has had a frustrating, injury-ridden year making only 13 appearances for Ipswich but providing leadership on the field.
He hopes to have a perfect ending where Ipswich win automatic promotion to the Premier League.
