At just 18 years old, James “Jimmy” Chilimigras has made history by graduating summa cum laude from Loyola University New Orleans’ law school. This milestone makes him one of the youngest individuals globally to ever earn a law degree.
Chilimigras, a native of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, has consistently outpaced traditional academic timelines: He began speaking in full sentences at age two and received his high school diploma at age 12.
By 15, he had already earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in accounting from Western Governors University. He is widely believed to be the world’s youngest certified public accountant.
He entered law school in 2023 after scoring a 174 out of 180 on the LSAT, the highest score in his multi-state region.
Achievements at Loyola Law
During his time at Loyola, Chilimigras excelled both in and out of the classroom. He ranked in the top 2% of his graduating class. He earned the highest grade in over 40% of his courses.

He represented clients in immigration matters through the Loyola Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic. He earned five certificates of concentration, in taxation, social justice, immigration, international legal studies, and technology, a feat believed to be unmatched in the school’s history.
Historical Context and Future Plans
Loyola officials believe Chilimigras is the youngest law graduate in Louisiana’s history. Globally, he joins a rare group that includes Stephen Baccus, who earned a law degree at 16, and Gabrielle Turnquest, who earned hers at 17.
Looking ahead, Chilimigras plans to move to Chicago to pursue a Master of Laws (LLM) in taxation from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law. He is projected to complete this advanced degree before he turns 20.
The Future of “Human Intelligent” Law
It is genuinely inspiring to see a young person like Jimmy Chilimigras balance raw intellectual power with a commitment to social justice and immigration law. While his technical achievements, like acing the LSAT at 15—are staggering, his work in the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic shows a human-oriented focus that is often missing in high-speed academic tracks.
I find Jimmy’s trajectory fascinating. He isn’t just “good at school”; he is clearly driven by a structured digital framework and a deep interest in complex regulatory fields like taxation. His path reminds everyone that while “raw effort” is vital, having a clear focus, whether it’s on the business of film or high-level tax law, is what truly creates a standout career. Jimmy is setting a high bar for what the next generation of legal professionals can achieve through early specialization.
