Ronaldinho has completed a surprise return to professional football following the announcement that the Brazilian legend has signed for Italian Serie C side Ravenna – more than a decade after he last graced the professional pitch.
The 46-year-old’s last competitive club was Fluminense back in 2015, but the former FIFA World Cup winner will be unveiled at a ceremony in Miami on June 23. He moves back to Italian football, having previously enjoyed success with AC Milan between 2008 and 2011.
There had been a belief that his move to Ravenna was merely a promotional and marketing opportunity, but club officials have since not ruled out the possibility of the Brazilian playing during the 2026-27 season.

Vice president Ariedo Braida initially stated Ronaldinho was too old to play but did concede his appearance was a possibility. “Ronaldinho is a timeless champion,” Braida explained.
“Will he play?
We will see, but it is not ruled out”.
The World Cup winner said he was thrilled to join the Italian club.
“New colours, same smile,” the Ballon d’Or winner said. “Football has always been a source of joy for me, and I want to bring that same spirit to Ravenna.” While his participation in competitive action has not been guaranteed, the return of Ronaldinho is an announcement that will bring joy to fans of the club.
