Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the sale of teenage defender Luka Vuskovic to Brighton for £50 million.
The 19-year-old Croatian defender’s move to the south coast club makes him Tottenham’s most expensive player ever to have departed without playing a single competitive first-team fixture for the club.
Brighton will pay an initial £46 million for the youngster, with another £4 million in add-ons that the player could earn if he is to succeed in Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

The north Londoners have also included a 20 per cent sell-on fee and matched rights for a potential future purchase.
Vuskovic only made three appearances for Spurs in pre-season friendlies since arriving from Hajduk Split in 2023. He failed to make it into the senior team and his development occurred mostly on loan, impressing in Germany with Hamburg and earned a place in the World Cup squad for his country.
Tottenham’s £50m injection should give new manager Roberto De Zerbi some much-needed funds to reshape his squad before the start of the new season but the decision has led some Tottenham fans to worry about their long-term strategy and whether they risk losing young talent at such a rate.
Following links between young talents such as Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Mikey Moore to other clubs. However, Tottenham are understood to view those players as being part of their plans.
