Mohamed Salah made a sentimental farewell to former Egypt teammate Ahmed Hegazi after revealing that the seasoned defender, who has made a career of 15 years in professional soccer, had made a decision on Monday morning at the age of 35.
Along with a kind message to acknowledge Hegazi in a touch of emotion to his career after the decision, the Liverpool winger added a plethora of photos that he has cherished with Hegazi in the Egyptian national squad, along with a sweet message of childhood friendship.
“A long journey we have lived together since our childhood. We enjoyed and were happy with every stage of it. I wish you success in what is to come,” Salah wrote in social media applications.

Hegazi revealed he has been to the very end of his career with Saudi Arabian club Neom.
However, he still maintained his burning desire and passion for playing the game of soccer to high levels: “Today I announce my retirement from football as a player, and not the retirement of my passion and love for it.
My journey on the pitch has ended, but my journey with football continues with the same passion, ambition and determination.” Hegazi achieved success with numerous clubs throughout his distinguished 15-year career, including Ismaily and Al Ahly in Egypt, Fiorentina and Perugia in Italy, West Bromwich Albion in England and Al Ithihad and Neom in Saudi Arabia.
