FIFA president Gianni Infantino has seen his endorsement withdrawn by Israel, further increasing pressure on the world football chief in the run-up to next year’s presidential election.
Chairman of the Israel Football Association, Shino Moshe Zuares, contacted FIFA informing them that the organisation was withdrawing its previous endorsement of Infantino due to increased tension over world football.
In a letter, Zuares described the recent incidents as an “unprecedented crisis of trust,” saying FIFA disagreements and the European confederation, along with other continental confederations, have recently gained seriousness.

“The split between the two seems fundamental, serious and deep-seated is leaving every member obliged to examine the way forward. Zuares stated;
“It leaves Israel ‘no choice but’ to withdraw its earlier endorsement letter, hoping that mediation between FIFA and the Confederations might one day lead to a compromise.
Israel’s removal of support is another development following strong condemnation of the controversial introduction of private money into FIFA’s World Cup tournaments that failed to progress. It led to increased close watch of his management.
Infantino seeks his third consecutive FIFA presidential victory. The next election will be next year.
Israel’s withdrawal continues to underline Infantino’s challenges regarding his election win as disputes grow among FIFA and other Confederations of football.
