Andrew Robertson, the former player of Liverpool, shared details about how the death of Diogo Jota not only deeply affected the players’ morale but also played a role in getting through such a rough season for their team.
Diogo Jota died in a car crash in June last year in Span’s town of Zamora, at 28, together with his little brother Andre Silva, 25. The players of Liverpool were so emotionally shaken that they couldn’t give any attention to anything beside being football players.
Andrew Robertson talking to Stick to Football podcast, admitted that football came last on the list of the players’ priorities after Jota’s passing.

Robertson explained that it took the team months to get their feet back on the ground after the players themselves were going through a state of complete apathy towards football. They hardly cared for being on the field.
“And indeed that is how it was that we lost our edge & we were really missing our best mate at the time. He wasn’t to us, only a footballer, he was a fellow worker, was our buddy.”
Robertson recalled that he was there at the wedding of Jota only week when disaster stroke, and that was an extremely tough time.
Liverpool FC dedicated their ‘Forever 20’ memorial at Anfield, to remember Jota and Silva for good.
