Arsenal ended their 13-match winless run at Anfield in the Premier League with a slim 1-0 victory against Liverpool to top the league table.
On previous trips to the stadium, the Gunners had gone 13 league matches there without a win, but Kai Havertz’s first-half finish earned all three points for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Havertz finally broke the deadlock, latching onto a terrific cross from Declan Rice at the back post to open the scoring for Arsenal at their first real chance.
Liverpool pushed back looking for an equaliser. Florian Wirtz hit the crossbar with a free-kick, before Alexis Mac Allister failed to make the most of a headed chance.

There was also a missed opportunity by Isak after the break, firing over from six yards with the keeper beaten as the Arsenal defenders toiled desperately to deny him.
On the far side, Liverpool’s Alisson came out on top in an excellent save from Christos Tzolis’ effort to keep the scoreline down.
Arsenal slowed the game down in the final moments to frustrate Liverpool and clinch an important win.
The result was Arsenal’s 17th win in their past 20 Premier League games and their 300th away victory in the competition, only the second club after Manchester United to reach the mark.
That also moved Gunners back on top.
