After being accused of threatening to kill a guy during a FaceTime discussion, Fetty Wap has been put behind bars. In December 2021, the rapper from the US was accused of pointing a gun at the man and saying, “Imma kill you and everybody you with.” It took place, according to the prosecution, around two months after his detention in a federal narcotics case. He was sentenced to prison after having his bail revoked on Monday at a hearing in a New York federal court.

The initial charges against Fetty, whose true name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, stemmed from allegations that he participated in a plot to bring cocaine into New York City. After entering a not guilty plea and paying a $500,000 (£413,000) bond, he was allowed to leave. He committed, as part of his bail arrangement, not to break any local, state, or federal laws while out on bond and not to have access to a gun or other weapon. An FBI document claims that on December 11, 2021, the 31-year-old rapper repeatedly threatened to kill an unnamed individual over the phone and was spotted waving a gun at the screen. Judge Steven Locke revoked his bail and imprisoned him during the court session in Long Island, New York. Radio 1 Newsbeat has gotten in touch with Fetty’s legal representative, Elizabeth Macedonio, for a response.

She claimed to the New York Post that he was lured into the conversation by someone who had uploaded a picture of his dead four-year-old daughter days before. In 2015, Fetty’s breakthrough track Trap Queen, which peaked at number two in the US and made the UK’s Top 10, received two Grammy Award nominations. He was set to perform on the 19th of August in Alabama and the 27th of August in Texas.
