Lee You-mi, the Squid Game actress who played the role of Ji-Young or aka player 240 has just won the accolade for the best guest drama actress at the Creative Arts Emmys for playing her character, Ji Young, a young woman who had been forced to compete in a risky game for riches after she is freed from prison in the dystopian Squid Game movie.

The very popular South Korean drama Squid Game clinched its first Emmy Awards on Sunday, along with an acting honor and three additional trophies in the run-up to next week’s television’s best drama battle.

The gushing actress had accepted the accolade on stage at a theatre in downtown Los Angeles, speaking Korean for a few seconds before screaming: “I’m so very happy!” in English.

Awards for the Lead actor and other categories will be given out in a televised red-carpet event on September 12, 2022. Squid Game is currently competing for the top drama honor, a record in itself as it is the first non-English language series to be nominated in that category.
