Adamawa APC Chairman reinstalled by the court

Ibrahim Bilal has been re-elected as the All Progressives Congress’ state chairman by a high court in Yola, Adamawa State. However, the court intervened to prevent Hon. Smaila Tadawu from continuing to pose as chairman. After Billal was allegedly fired by the party’s State Working Committee on Monday, Mr. Ismaila Tawadu was appointed chairman.

The motion on notice, filed by Ibrahim Bilal, challenging his alleged removal by some members of the state working committee, which was followed by the announcement of his deputy, Samaila Tadawus, as the new acting chairman of the party in the state, was heard on Thursday, and interim injunctions were issued by Justice Musa Usman.

The court’s decision to reinstall Mr. Ibrahim Bilal as the APC’s party chairman follows a lawsuit brought before the state high court by certain party members who were upset over being let go after receiving a vote of no confidence from 14 of the committee’s 36 members.

All parties individually, as well as their servants, agents, privies, and other individuals were prohibited from proceeding with the removal of the plaintiff from office by the order of the interim injunction. Justice Musa issued the order following Adamawa High Court Rule 10(7).

The matter has been postponed until September 14, 2022, so that the move-on notice can be heard.
