Ebonyi State Governor, Umahi Refutes Claims of Disrupting ‘OBIdients’ Rally
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has denied allegations circling social media and news outlets ordering the disruption of Peter Obi’s supporters’ rally in the state.

It had been reported earlier today that the presidential rally organized by the Labour Party presidential candidate’s supporters, had been disrupted by policemen who halted the supporters from passing freely through the streets.

Governor Umahi’s Special Assistant on Media and Strategy Chooks Oko released a statement it announcing that “relevant government agencies had supported the use of Abakaliki township stadium for a rally by the Labour party candidate to the payment of some agreed upon fees, but the organizers had chosen to file into the streets causing mayhem and untold hardships on unsuspecting citizens going about their daily lives.”

Chooks Oko had then opined that the police had had to step in, for law and order to be restored.

A snippet of the governor’s statement titled: THE GOVERNOR ORDERED NO DISRUPTION reads:

“The Governor hereby appeals to all citizens to always abide by the dictates of the law and decent living so that law and order will always reign supreme. He wishes all political parties and their candidates well and enjoins all to play the game, fair and square.”
