Police operatives in Enugu state have saved twelve kidnap victims in the state. A statement released by the spokes representative of the state police command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, revealed that the operatives serving in the Unity Division, on September 21 at around 7.10 pm, responded to a distress call alleging that suspected kidnappers barred the road between Ekwegbe-Agu and Neke-Uno communities respectively in Enugu East and Igbo-Etiti L.G.As, along Enugu/Opi/Nsukka Highway.
Ndukwe remarked that the operatives foiled the yet unidentified hoodlums’ attempt to abduct some road users after a gun battle and thereafter, rescued two male victims the criminal elements were on the verge of kidnapping, and also recovered their stolen vehicles.
The police spokesperson Ndukwe added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, has directed the immediate deployment of extra intelligence/operational resources to further contain emerging incidents of kidnapping/abduction in some parts of the State, especially the recent cases along the Enugu/Opi/Nsukka road. This was to ensure the security and safety of innocent citizens, particularly along major roads in the State.
