The Benue Command of the Nigeria Police Force has commenced a manhunt for the murderers of the former Deputy Rector of the Benue State Polytechnic, Mr. Oche Enenche, and the Information Officer of Ukum Local Government Area, Mr. Orbunde Ephraim.

Enenche had been a lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronics, before he was shot dead on Friday, November 11 by certain criminal gangs terrorizing motorists and commuters along the Otukpo-Eke-Ugbokolo-Otukpa highway. It was said that the deputy rector had been killed in the company of his wife.

Mr. Orbunde, on the other hand, was killed by some gunmen in Zaki Biam, the local government headquarters on Saturday, November 12.

The immediate past chairman of Ukum LGA, Steve Ayua, who had appointed Orbunde as the council’s Information Officer, told newsmen on Sunday, November 13 that his killers had secretly followed him to his house before fatally shooting him in the stomach.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer in Benue State, SP, Catherine Anene, announced that the command has begun a manhunt for the killers.

She said, “Our men are already tracking them. No arrest has yet been made but I assure you that the hoodlums would soon be apprehended.”
