The leader of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa is in hot water after some comments he made earlier this week, threatening violence against all people who might choose not to cast their votes in favor of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) party in the upcoming 2023 presidential election. Consequently, the leader has defended himself from the statements he made in the video which has gone viral.

Mr. Ado Doguwa who represents the Tudun Wada/Doguwa constituency of Kano State in the video charged all party faithful to strike out against all who would not vote in support of APC in the coming elections. He stated that people were to either vote for APC or be dealt with.

However, Mr. Doguwa seems to have retracted his statement and in an interview with Channels TV claimed that his intentions were not to scare and intimidate people but rather to motivate and ‘ginger’ his party’s supporters. He stressed that his statement was never a threat but rather a special political tactic to market to Kano state which he said as far as politics was concerned was ‘aggressive.’

Mr. Doguwa further added that such approaches to politics could never be removed from Nigeria and that it was rather part of the highlight and colorful nature of politics in the state.
