NSCIA Asks Security Agencies to Watch Over Muslims in South-East Ahead Of 2023 Polls

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, has asked security agents in the country to do more to guide the lives and property of Muslims living in the South-Eastern states.

The council had raised the alarm over the killing of Muslims in the South-East by certain non-Muslims, demanding that the perpetrators of such killings should be brought to justice as soon as possible.

This call was contained in a communique issued after the special extraordinary meeting of the Expanded General Purpose Committee, EGPC, of the NSCIA that was held in Abuja.

The committee had also stated that the eligibility criteria for leadership in Nigeria were too general to the extent that unsuitable people were ultimately getting elected to positions of authority.

The council under the leadership of the President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, had then further asked all Muslims to collect their permanent voter cards (PVCs) because of reports that numerous registered Muslims were yet to do so.
