The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has begun building the projected Abeokuta
Passport Office in Ogun State as part of continuous efforts to improve the level of
efficiency in the nation’s passport operations.

Additionally, the department opened the Passport Front Office in Kano, Kano State,
which will make it much easier for travelers to obtain Nigerian passports.

Mr. Isah Jere Idris performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Abeokuta
Passport Office as part of his tour to immigration formations in Zone A, which includes the states of Lagos and Ogun, according to a statement by Tony Akuneme, NIS Public Relations Officer, Deputy Controller.

He emphasized that once finished, the new passport office building project would
improve the processing and production of passports and described it as timely.
The immigration chief thanked the state governor, Mr. Dapo Abiodun, and the
Alake/Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, for their support of the NIS during his tour of the state command.

In particular, he praised the governor for approving and allocating land for the proposed Abeokuta Passport Office’s construction, as well as for allowing the Ogun State Security Trust Fund to refurbish three operational vehicles, noting that these actions improved the service’s mobilization and patrol operations.
