Daniel Dubois defended his WBO heavyweight title after flooring Fabio Wardley in the second round. The showdown at the O2 venue has further positioned Dubois as one of the most dominant British heavyweights today.
Dubois threw his first punch at Fabio only to see Wardley duck under it. The fight then went into a flurry of punches when Dubois hit Wardley with a powerful straight right hand, causing the challenger to hit the canvas at 17 seconds into the round. Following the knockdown, Dubois kept attacking with a constant onslaught.
After the referee allowed both boxers to rise, Wardley managed to get through the first round alive, although he was still reeling from all Dubois’ bombardments. Then the second round started, and Wardley found himself back to the ropes with Dubois standing over him while continuing to rain down hard blows. It was only at that point that Ben Davison, the coach of Wardley, decided to give up and pull out the team out of the fight.
Currently at 24 wins, including 23 KOs, and 3 defeats, Dubois will face the new contender in his upcoming matches.

Dubois: “Fabio is a great guy; he fights the second time, but it was my time, and I made it. I had my plans, bad plans from the beginning.”
Though Wardley’s record stands at 8(14) -1- (2), he says this loss is nothing to hide from, as the only shame would be if one refused the opportunity of testing oneself in a bout against the world’s top fighter.
In the interview after the win, Dubois hinted that he wants to fight top fighters, such as a rematch against Filip Hrgovic, and also potentially take part in heavy fights with Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury; both of them are heavyweights, and these fights will have high stakes in prize money and also viewership.
The champion added, “I’m the boss; my main objective is to take on top fighters.”
