Supreme Court Insists on Hearing for the New naira Suit
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

On Wednesday, February 22, the Supreme Court announced that come what may, the new naira note suit must be heard.

At today’s proceeding, the counsel for Lagos State, Moyosore Onigbanjo, had asked the court to bar the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, from defending the respondents while acting in contempt of initial court orders.

Meanwhile, in a response to Justice John Okoro, Onigbanjo had told the lawmaker that he was not a stranger to Nigeria.

“We don’t want a situation where the judiciary will be a scapegoat and we refuse to be the scapegoat. Therefore, we are hearing this matter today. We do not intend to keep this matter going for longer”.

Several Nigerians, particularly the consumer, business groups, and trade unions are looking up to the apex court for a favorable judgment that will hopefully help alleviate their suffering.
