Floodwaters from Tropical Cyclone Freddy have swept bodies from an old cemetery into nearby residences and across farms.
Television images have depicted the catastrophic aftermath as floodwaters inundated neighborhoods in the Boane district, about 25 kilometers southwest of Maputo.
The scattered bodies pose a significant risk to public health and members of the community spent the past weekend picking up these corpses. It is estimated that this cemetery, which is more than three decades old, contains many unidentified graves.
