The Kaduna State Government, headed by Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has issued a warning against any form of protest regarding Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly election results in the state.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan stated that the announcement of election results is the sole responsibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission and that unofficial publication of results could lead to serious threats to public peace and order.
He encouraged anyone with queries over officially announced results to utilize legal instruments provided by the Electoral Act instead of taking part in street protests.
He emphasized that Governor El-Rufai is closely monitoring the security situation related to conducting elections alongside security agencies in the state, and warned that actions that might disrupt public peace will be handled decisively by those agencies.
