Solomon Ekunke Okpe, a Nigerian has been sentenced to four years in jail for participating in online scams that targeted US citizens and banking institutions, leading up to $1 million in losses to victims.
The 31-year-old had been sentenced after he was extradited from Malaysia to the US to stand trial.
The US Department of Justice, while announcing the sentence had revealed that Okpe and his accomplices operated by devising and executing business email compromise BEC, work-from-home, check-cashing, romance, and credit card scams.
Okpe will now join fellow gang member, Johnson Uke Obogo to be locked behind bars.
Obogo had previously been sentenced on March 20 to 12 months and a day in prison for his role in the email scams.
