The Labour Party (LP) has pledged to reimburse the nomination and interest form cost paid by one of its Imo State governorship candidates who passed away before the election.

Humphrey Anumudu, the deceased, reportedly paid N25 million for the party’s governorship interest form. Sadly, the promising governorship contender died a few weeks later.

According to reports, Anumudu passed away last Friday in his home in Lagos after returning from the party’s meeting at the national headquarters in Abuja.

Anumudu, a resident of Mbaitoli Local Government Area in Imo State and a native of the Mbieri Ancient Kingdom, was discovered dead in his home after what the family’s sources have referred to as a “spiritual attack.”

However, on Tuesday in Abuja, after meeting with Labour Party members who had been elected to the National Assembly, Julius Abure, the party’s national chairman, said that out of sympathy and compassion, LP would reimburse a deceased candidate’s immediate family for the N25 million nomination fee they had paid.

Abure also stated that none of the party’s freshly elected National Assembly members would leave for another political group.

The governorship elections for Imo State, Bayelsa, and Kogi States are all planned for November 11.
