The petition filed by Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), at the President Election Petitions Tribunal has been postponed until Wednesday, May 10.

Kenneth Okonkwo, the party’s presidential campaign council spokesperson, announced this on Twitter on Monday.

The Tribunal had previously postponed the hearing of petitions brought by the Peoples Democratic Party’s nominee, Atiku Abubakar, and the Allied Peoples Movement.

The petitions were heard today (Monday), and security had been increased around the location in Abuja.

The ruling All Progressives Congress’s Bola Tinubu was named the winner of the February 25 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

However, petitions were filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Action Alliance (AA), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and Action Peoples Party (APP) to dispute Tinubu’s victory.

The APM had chosen Atiku as its presidential candidate before the election, prompting its candidate, Princess ChiChi Ojei, to call her party’s decision vile and a defeat for Nigerian women.

However, the tribunal panel’s presiding judge, Justice Haruna Simon Tsammni, postponed the hearing of their petitions to Tuesday on Monday.

The Tribunal also dismissed the Action Alliance’s (AA) appeal disputing Tinubu’s declaration as the winner of the presidential election on Monday.

The Action Alliance (AA) abandoned its petition before the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja, resulting in the dismissal. The reason for the withdrawal was not provided.
