IPOB Supports Enugu Governor’s Efforts to End Monday Sit-at-Home

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has expressed its backing for Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mba, in his commitment to putting an end to the Monday sit-at-home in the state. The group stated that they support the governor’s initiative because IPOB had already suspended the sit-at-home order.

However, IPOB cautioned the governor against resorting to the use of force on the people, asserting that the police are well aware of the criminals responsible for enforcing the “non-existent sit-at-home.”

These statements were made by IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, in a released statement on Monday. The group also reminded Governor Mba that they had already halted the sit-at-home exercise before it was hijacked by certain criminal elements.

IPOB acknowledged that while the sit-at-home directive is gradually subsiding across the South-East region, Governor Mba should refrain from utilizing force to suppress the people, as doing so could lead to chaos. They emphasized that security agents are capable of apprehending those enforcing the sit-at-home and their sponsors since they are well acquainted with each other. IPOB also claimed that the criminal activities in the South-East are orchestrated by their leaders in Europe, with the support of the Federal Government, solely to defame IPOB.

The group cautioned Governor Mba not to repeat the mistake made by Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who used compromised Nigerian security forces to quell the Monday sit-at-home. They added that any attempt to employ the services of the Fulani-controlled security agencies to suppress the sit-at-home would indirectly harm their people.

“Such moves will always be counterproductive. Such measures failed in Ebonyi, Imo, and Anambra, and it will fail in Enugu if it is applied. We support him to stop the Monday sit-at-home, as we have stopped the sit-at-home. Allow the Monday sit-at-home to die off naturally by engaging our people,” the group added.
