Reports have confirmed that seven members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State have vacated the party’s State Working Committee.
One of the now retired party members, the (former) state Deputy Chairman, Martin Ejiogu, had accused the PDP governorship candidate, Senator Sam Anyanwu of abuse of power, threatening his life, and intimidation.
The former members while holding a press conference on Sunday, June 18 in Owerri, the Imo state capital, had alleged that since the time Anyanwu became the National Secretary of the Party, he had constantly fought with the members of the state Working Committee, threatening to dissolve the state working committee in Imo at any slightest provocation.
Other accusations hurled at Senator Anyanwu had included him sponsoring his loyalists to write frivolous petitions against the state working committee at the national headquarters.
Speaking on behalf of other PDP SWC members, Collins Opurozor who had been the state publicity secretary had described Anyawu’s emergence as the PDP governorship candidate in the state as the cruelest occasion in the party’s history as well as an unwanted imposition by the Senator Iyorchia Ayu-led National Working Committee.
The former members of the PDP Imo State working committee include the secretary of the party, Ray Emeana; youth leader, Greg Nwadike; deputy state chairman, Martin Ejiogu; state woman leader, Maria Mbakwe; state treasurer, Josiah Eze, and state vice chairman, Orlu zone, Chibuisi Obido.
