El-Rufai Pulls Back Interest In Ministerial Role
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

Ex-Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai has reportedly withdrawn his interest to be nominated as a minister under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, according to a report.

It was said that he did not only retreat from his ministerial role, he also endorsed Jafaru Ibrahim Sani who served as commissioner in three ministries(Local Government, Education and Environment in Kaduna State) as his replacement.

The report had come after the decision by the Senate to not confirm El-Rufai, and two other nominees: Stella Okotete from Delta State and Sani A Danladi from Taraba State.

Prior before this, the Senate, under Senator Godswill Akpabio’s leadership confirmed 45 out of 48 nominees submitted by President Bola Tinubu.

But the Red Chamber legislative arm had revealed that El-Rufai, Okotete, and Danladi were not confirmed due to security investigations.

The Premium Times newspaper had on Friday, August 10, quoted sources from the Presidency who said that the ex-governor (a devoted supporter of the President) has rejected the offer to serve as a minister in the present administration.

El-Rufai purportedly, assured Bola Tinubu that he would keep contributing his quota to the national development as a private citizen.

The report also disclosed that the former governor needed time to concentrate on his doctorate program at a university in The Netherlands and has assured the President that he would find Sani very resourceful in his administration.
