Several University of Lagos students had stormed the streets on Tuesday, September 12, to protest the hike in the tuition fees of the institution.

This demonstration will make it the the second one in under a week by the UNILAG students who were joined by their counterparts from other universities

The protesters had stormed the streets, chanting for the school authorities to reduce the tuition fees it recently increased.

The students were additionally, joined by officers of the Nigerian Police Force and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, respectively.

Some of the students who spoke with Channels Television reporters had commented that they would not stop protesting until their school fees was returned to the status quo.

The protesting students had also asked the Federal Government to subsidise the proceeds from the subsidy removal on education rather than permit school fees increment.

Recall that the UNILAG school authorities had in July, announced a tuition hike for both new and returning students of the institution, as a result of what the school authorities have described as the “prevailing economic realities”.
