Canada has announced the imposition of further sanctions on members of Haiti’s economic elite, citing their involvement in acts of corruption that have exacerbated the humanitarian and security crisis in the country, according to a statement from Canada’s foreign ministry on Thursday.
These sanctions specifically target individuals such as Marc Antoine Acra, Carl Braun, and Jean-Marie Vorbe, all of whom are prominent businessmen, as outlined by the ministry.
