The Akwa Ibom State chapter for the African Action Congress, AAC, has refused to call four bags of rice which it claimed was given to it by the Federal Government as a palliative to reduce the harsh economic effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
According to the AAC chairman in the state, Elder Utip Etiebiet, the palliative arrangement was purposely planned “to mock and fool Nigerians”.
Etiebet had complained that the palliative was given out based on the political party lines in the state.
Etiebet, while speaking in Uyo, the state capital, had remarked that the party had returned its share of four bags of rice gotten from the state government through the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, which gad been in charge of disbursing the relief materials.
Additionally, Etiebet revealed that a letter had been sent to IPAC to that effect.
In Etiebet’s words:
“The AAC is not a refugee camp. We have never acted beggarly to warrant being sent four bags of rice only, to the office. Our members have with one accord, stated that they do not have to survive on the palliative since the AAC is not a refugee camp.”
