NLC Strike: Labour Party Urges Supporters to Stock Up Homes

The Labour Party has asked its supporters nationwide to stock their homes with vital items ahead of the planned indefinite strike by the organized labour.

This warning is coming after the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, announced that they may be shutting down the country’s economy on October 3 to really stress their demands for a better working condition.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 27, by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the Labour Party chairman had given his approval for the proposed indefinite strike.

According to the LP party, President Bola Tinubu’s administration did not seem to care about the hardship the citizens of the country were passing through following the fuel subsidy removal.

The party had also bemoaned the economic reality of the country, as parents unable to remit their children’s school fees had begun withdrawing their wards from schools. Avery sad development.

Part of the statement reads:
“Nigerians are daily subjected to harsh economic realities where the inflation rate is close to 30% and where a dollar is sold for above 1000 Naira, and where per capita income has greatly depreciated.”

“Many families are now forced to withdraw their wards from schools over the increase in school fees, meanwhile, criminal activities are surging by the day.”

“Nigerian workers have shown more than enough patience and understanding. We wish to use this medium to inform all our members and supporters to stock their homes with the necessary food items, in anticipation of a long-drawn mass action until victory is assured. No retreat, no surrender.”
