Today, we dive into the world of Akeredolu, but not the usual political tussle with his deputy. Emerging from a near-death experience, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu found himself at the center of a rather unusual gathering. Like concerned neighbors dropping by to check on their ailing friend, several South-West governors paid a visit.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State’s governor, joined the well-wishing caravan in the Oyo State capital of Ibadan. Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Biodun Oyebanji were also in attendance. As for Osun State’s governor, Ademola Adeleke, he chose a conspicuously empty seat at this gathering, offering no explanation for his absence.

Akeredolu’s Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, was the bearer of tidings, revealing that the governors engaged in discussions covering national and regional matters. Oddly, Adeleke’s deputy, Kola Adewusi, didn’t stand in for the absent governor, leaving us in the dark about the reasons.

In this meeting of South-West governor minds, Akeredolu, also the Chairman of this exclusive club, expressed gratitude for the “solidarity” of his peers and underlined the need for continuous collaboration within the region. Governor Makinde, in his turn, assured Akeredolu of their unwavering support and prayers.

The backdrop to this reunion is Akeredolu’s triumphant return from Germany, after an almost mythical three-month absence. While his recovery is indeed a remarkable turn of events, it also raises eyebrows about his cabinet’s loyalty, which seemed to waver during his ordeal.
