The Investigative Committee of Russia has initiated a criminal case in response to a freight train derailment in the Ryazan region, as confirmed by the committee’s press service. The investigation reveals that an improvised explosive device was detonated on November 11, resulting in 19 train cars derailing, with 15 sustaining damage.
In response to the incident, the committee has opened a case under charges related to terrorism and the unlawful acquisition, transfer, or storage of explosive devices. Despite Moscow’s repeated accusations against Kyiv, Russian authorities have not officially attributed blame to Ukraine for the derailment on Saturday.
The state-owned railway operator reported one employee injured during the incident, attributing it to the “intervention of unauthorized persons.” Investigators are diligently working to ascertain all details surrounding the incident and identify those involved in the criminal act.
