Kenya Airways informs its passengers to gear up for flight interruptions, due to a scarcity of spare parts needed for the aircrafts.

Kenya Airways has informed its customers to be ready for possible disruptions to its flights schedule during the busy Christmas holiday season due to the dearth of spare parts.

The carrier, one of the largest in Africa, had remarked that the lack of parts, –an issue affecting the global supply chain– would disorganise flights for an estimated two weeks.

“These difficulties are causing an extended ground time of our aircraft for maintenance,” the airline had said in a statement seen by Reuters on Monday.

“This issue might also lead to the grounding of one or more of our aircraft.”

The airline initially waived the problems it is struggling with due to spare parts insufficiencies in January this year.

At the time, it accredited the dearths to the Ukraine war, which grounded the Russian supply chain for worldwide aviation.

The company had said at the time that the supply of titanium from Russia, an essential raw material for the aviation industry, vital to the upkeep of planes, had been dissolved by the conflict.

Kenya Airways’ strategy rests on connecting African passengers to the world and vice-versa through its Nairobi hub, operating a fleet of Boeing and Embraer planes.
