Russian President Vladimir Putin has categorically rejected U.S. President Joe Biden’s assertion that Russia would attack a NATO country if successful in the war in Ukraine, deeming it “complete nonsense.” Putin emphasized that Russia holds no interest in engaging in conflict with the NATO military alliance.

The ongoing war in Ukraine has strained Moscow’s relations with the West, prompting Biden to caution about the potential for World War Three in the event of a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia.

Putin Dismisses Biden’s Warning, Affirms Russia’s Non-Aggressive Stance Towards NATO

In an interview published on Sunday by Rossiya state television, Putin remarked, “It is complete nonsense – and I think President Biden understands that.” Putin suggested that Biden’s remarks were an attempt to rationalize his own “mistaken policy” on Russia.

“Russia has no reason, no interest – no geopolitical interest, neither economic, political nor military – to fight with NATO countries,” Putin asserted.

The Russian leader has consistently criticized NATO’s expansion post-Cold War, viewing it as a manifestation of the West’s dismissive approach to Russia’s security concerns.

Regarding Finland’s potential entry into NATO in April, Putin stated that it would compel Russia to “concentrate certain military units” in northern Russia near the border, highlighting the geopolitical implications of such developments.
