David Menzies, a Rebel News reporter was apprehended by the York Regional Police –YRP after he attempted to ask Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland about the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps -IRGC.

A video which is making rounds on X had shown Menzies wanting to know from the Deputy Prine minister, why the Canadian government was not standing up to the IRGC. In the process, an RCMP officer bumped into him to block him from confronting DPM Freeland.

The RCMP officer then went on to grab Menzies and push him against a wall saying:

“You’re under arrest for assault.”

The officer then quickly moved Menzies towards a vehicle, identifying himself as police officer and remarking that Menzies was under arrest for assault.
Menzies on his part said the officer was the one who had blocked his way.

The officer kept saying that Menzies was being arrested for assaulting a police officer. In response, he accused him of assaulting him three years ago.

Since he was being arrested, a YRP officer said that Menzies had the right to remain silent. Menzies on his part joked about the comment, saying “this is what happens in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Canada. This is what they do to journalists,”

“I was merely scrumming Minister Freeland and an RCMP officer blocked me and evidently, this is now a trumped up charge of assault, folks.”

While Menzies was being nabbed, he kept affirming that he did not come to cause any problems and that he only came to do his job and it ended up with him being handcuffed.

At the time of making this report, the True North managing editor, Andrew Lawton revealed that Menzies was eventually let go by YRP.
