GB Foods has inaugurated a state-of-the-art tomato processing plant in Kebbi state, Nigeria. Being one of the world’s largest consumers of tomatoes, our culinary landscape heavily relies on this essential ingredient. The absence of domestic processing facilities has compelled the country to import tomato paste from foreign sources.

With a colossal investment of N20 billion, GB Foods’ new plant spans 1,500 hectares, featuring a cutting-edge 620 metric tonnes per day processing facility.

This initiative not only aims to enhance paste production in Nigeria but also seeks to diminish the nation’s reliance on imported tomato products. Moreover, the project has created 2,000 jobs and engaged 3,335 local tomato growers within the state.

The government expresses optimism about the economic impact of the tomato processing factory, acknowledging its potential as a catalyst for Nigeria’s prosperity. Emphasizing its significance as the largest tomato processing facility, they commit to providing necessary assistance and protection to ensure its success.

Given Nigeria’s substantial reliance on tomatoes, there is optimism that the factory will not only meet local demands but also expand its operations. This development is seen as a beacon for industrialization in Nigeria, fostering hope for economic growth. The success of the plant is anticipated to attract foreign investments, portraying Nigeria as a promising ground for business despite prevailing challenges.
