The supporters of former U.S. President Donald Trump, are furious of his conviction on 34 felony counts by a New York jury. With blind rage, they flooded several pro-Trump websites with chants for riots, revolution and violent retribution.
After Trump made history, albeit infamously by becoming the first U.S. president to be convicted of a crime, his supporters responded with several violent online posts.
This was according to a comment review by Reuters on three Trump-aligned websites: the former president’s own Truth Social platform, Patriots.Win and the Gateway Pundit.
Some of these netizens had called for attacks on the jurors, the execution of the judge, Justice Juan Merchan, and even outright civil war and armed insurrection.
This is not a surprising behaviour for both Trump and his friends as threats of violence and bloodshed rhetorics spiked after Trump lost the 2020 election and deceptively claimed that his mandate had been stolen.
While campaigning for a second White House term, Trump has consistently and ruthlessly labeled the judges and prosecutors in his trials as corrupt tools of the Biden administration, saying they were intent on sabotaging his White House bid.
Just yesterday, on Thursday, May 30, a 12-member jury found Trump guilty of falsifying documents to conceal his payment to shut up a porn star’s account of a sexual encounter ahead of the 2016 election.
His sentencing is set for July 11, mere days before the Republican Party is slated to formally nominate Trump for president ahead of the U.S. November 5 election.
Trump has meanwhile, denied wrongdoing and is expected to appeal.
What They’re Saying:
A user on Patriots.Win had posted:
“Someone in NY with nothing to lose needs to take care of Merchan. Hopefully he gets met with illegals with a machete,” the post said in reference to illegal immigrants.”
Another on Gateway Pundit had made a suggestion to shoot liberals after the verdict.
They had posted: “Time to start capping some leftys,” said the post. “This cannot be fixed by voting.”
Trump had been quoted telling reporters after the verdict that “This was a disgrace, this was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt.”
Trump on his part had continued his online attacks after the verdict.
On Truth Social, the platform he founded that imitated X, he called Merchan “HIGHLY CONFLICTED” and condemned his jury instructions citing it as unfair.
One commentator had even responded by posting a picture of a hangman’s platform and a noose with the caption: “TREASONOUS MOBSTER OF THE JUSTICES SYSTEM!!”
