In a remarkable display of his record-breaking prowess, Burna Boy has set a new milestone for the biggest opening week streams for a song on Spotify Nigeria. ‘Higher’ achieved 2.3 million streams in its first week, surpassing the previous record held by Rema & Shallipopi’s ‘Benin Boys,’ which amassed 2.1 million streams. This achievement follows ‘Higher’s’ earlier record for the highest opening day streams for a solo song by an African artist on Spotify.

Released on June 27, 2024, ‘Higher’ showcases Burna Boy singing about valuing what truly matters and embracing the joy of success. This release is the latest in a series of groundbreaking achievements for Burna Boy, including the highest-grossing concert by an African artist in the U.S. and the highest-grossing tour by an African artist in Canada.

The music video for ‘Higher’ features Burna Boy’s emotional return to his hometown of Port Harcourt, where he participated in outreach through his charity, “Project PROTECT,” in partnership with The R.E.A.C.H., to provide essential services to underserved Nigerian communities.

This single’s release comes just days before Burna Boy’s historic 2024 London stadium concert, where he became the first African artist to sell out the 80,000-capacity venue twice.
