Microdosing is the practice of taking very small amounts of drugs like LSD or magic mushrooms (psilocybin mushrooms) to try and feel better or more creative without getting high. Lately, this idea has become quite popular.

But now there’s a problem. Reports say that people have gotten really sick from eating different types of candy made for microdosing. In fact, the situation has escalated to the point where there are fears that someone might die from it. This shows that even small amounts of these drugs can be dangerous if they’re not used properly.

The Candies in Question

Diamond Shruumz is a brand that makes microdosing candies. They advertise these candies as a cool way to feel more creative, happier, and more productive without getting fully high. Their ads target young people who are into wellness and new trends.

As explained earlier in the introduction, microdosing typically means taking very small, controlled amounts of psychedelic drugs like LSD or magic mushrooms. These small doses are meant to give some benefits without causing full-on hallucinations.

The problem with Diamond Shruumz candies is that they contain muscimol, a psychoactive chemical found in certain types of potentially toxic mushrooms. Muscimol can cause strong and unpredictable effects, making the consumption of these candies risky.

What Are The Health Risks and Reported Symptoms of Microdosing?

Unlike substances such as psilocybin or LSD, which are sometimes used in small amounts for their potential benefits, muscimol is much riskier. Psilocybin and LSD are often researched for possible positive effects at low doses, but muscimol has a higher chance of causing serious problems.

According to U. S Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, “a variety of severe health effects have been reported after consumption of Diamond ShruumzTM brand products, including the following: seizures, decreased level of consciousness, respiratory failure, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, hallucinations, uncontrolled movements, abnormal heart rate (e.g., too fast or too slow), high or low blood pressure, excessive sweating or secretions, and flushed skin.”

Health officials are currently investigating these incidents to understand what happened and to find ways to prevent it from happening again. With this investigation, possible rules will be put in place to keep people safe.

The FDA has issued a recall of all Diamond Shruumz products. The CDC strongly advises that you should not “buy, eat, sell, or serve Diamond ShruumzTM brand chocolate bars, cones, or gummies. Discard any product that has been purchased.” If you experience any symptoms after consuming these candies, seek medical attention immediately.

Conclusion

Microdosing remains a complex and evolving topic, with ongoing debates about its potential benefits and risks. Some substances, like psilocybin and LSD, are sometimes studied for their possible therapeutic effects when taken in small amounts. However, other substances, such as muscimol, can pose greater risks, emphasizing the need for caution.

Recently, the FDA issued a recall of candies sold under the Diamond Shruumz brand due to potential health risks. The CDC encourages everyone to discard any candies from this brand and seek medical help if you experience any negative symptoms after consuming them.
