Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz showcased a dominant performance to defeat Serbia’s Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) and successfully defend his Wimbledon title on Sunday. The 21-year-old’s win in the rematch of last year’s final marks his fourth Grand Slam trophy, maintaining a perfect record in major finals. Alcaraz’s victories include two Wimbledon titles, the 2022 U.S. Open, and the French Open last month.

Djokovic, 37, was denied his 25th Grand Slam title, which would have surpassed Margaret Court’s all-time record and equaled Roger Federer’s eight Wimbledon men’s singles titles. Alcaraz’s relentless performance began with a crucial break point in a 14-minute first game, setting the tone for a commanding first set.

The second seed Djokovic faced more pressure in the second set, as Alcaraz’s aggressive play and Djokovic’s service issues led to an imposing two-set lead for the Spaniard. The two players battled evenly in the third set until 4-4, when Alcaraz broke with a powerful backhand winner to lead 5-4. Despite being 40-0 up, Alcaraz missed three match points and lost his serve, but he kept his composure to win in the tiebreak, sealing the match when Djokovic netted a return.

Alcaraz’s victory solidifies his status as a rising star in tennis, while Djokovic’s quest for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title continues. The thrilling match was a testament to Alcaraz’s skill and determination, as he once again proved his mettle on one of tennis’s biggest stages.
