The federal government has returned 190 stranded Nigerians from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Mr Bashir Garga, the National Emergency Management Agency’s (NEMA) zone director in the North Central, issued the statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to him, the returnees were welcomed on Tuesday at 5:57 a.m. at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

He claimed that a group of government representatives headed by NEMA met the returnees.

He stated that the returnees were sensitised to behave with dignity and responsibility upon their return to Nigeria, and that the appropriate agencies had profiled and documented them.

According to the statement, “The Federal Government urges all Nigerians, wherever they may be, to act as exemplary ambassadors of their country by upholding the fundamental values of decency, integrity, patriotism, and the rule of law.”

Bottom Line

The repatriation of 190 Nigerians from the UAE by the federal government highlights ongoing efforts to assist citizens facing difficulties abroad.

This action by NEMA and other governmental bodies shows a commitment to supporting and reintegrating stranded nationals.

Sensitizing returnees on responsible behavior and documenting them properly is crucial for their smooth reintegration.
