Manchester United new boy Leny Yoro has claimed that he is “ready to die” for the club. The young French defender, who the Red Devils managed to capture ahead of Real Madrid, is rated as one of the most exciting young talents in world football.
Yoro made his unofficial debut for United in the 2-0 pre-season win over Rangers, playing in a back four alongside veteran Jonny Evans. The 18-year-old could make a partnership with Lisandro Martinez in central defense when he completes his Copa America duties with Argentina.
Manager Erik ten Hag has praised the excellent debut by Yoro, and the teenager has committed himself to the club. “Manchester United is the biggest club in the world. For me, it was a dream to play for this club! The fans here are incredible,” Yoro said. “I spoke with Ten Hag. He wants players who really want to win. When he puts me on the pitch, I’m ready to die for this club.”
The first thing that Yoro is savouring about his move is to test himself in what he believes to be the world’s most competitive league. “The level is crazy in England”, he conceded. He made 32 Ligue 1 appearances for Lille last term, starting 30 times, scoring two goals, and assisting in securing a fourth-place finish, thereby qualifying them for the Champions League.
Reflecting on the move, Yoro said, “For me, this is the biggest championship in the world. The fans, the level—because the level is crazy there, there is not an easy game—and, for me, the Premier League is the biggest in the world.”
