Protesters in Portharcourt have stormed the Federal Secretariat in Aba to voice their concerns to the administration.

Yesterday, a large crowd gathered at the Government House in Port Harcourt to hear what Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara had to say about the current protest.

There was uproar because the governor promised them a “small thing” to quench their thirst.

At precisely 12:01 p.m., Governor Fubara spoke to the protesters and assured them that he would relay the message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He acknowledged the suffering of Nigerians.

“You’ve come here in search of a better Nigeria. I count myself among you. I understand your suffering. He said, “I’ll forward your message to the President

“But some angry young people took exception at the governor’s financial present, posing rhetorical questions like “how much you wan give us?” Instead of money, we demand good governance.”Hold your cash,” they yelled.

Today, the #Endbadgovernance protesters attacked the Federal Secretariat, Aba Motorway, and assaulted the police officers who were there to defend them.

They were seen approaching the on-duty police officers and yelling, “Hunger dey, hunger dey, hunger dey.”

Final Thoughts

The governor’s offer of a “small thing” was met with disappointment, emphasizing the protesters’ desire for systemic change rather than short-term relief

If economic conditions worsen and the government fails to address the root causes of the protests, there is a risk of further unrest and violence.

The protesters’ chants of “hunger dey” shows the severe economic challenges faced by many Nigerians.
