Barcelona midfielder Gavi has finally returned to training almost 10 months after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in Spain’s EURO 2024 qualifying win over Georgia back last November. The 20-year-old went under the knife and never played the rest of the season, missing Spain’s triumph at the Euros.
Barcelona shared a video of him back onto the pitch, but he is not expected to make an immediate return to competitive action. His return to full fitness will be closely monitored by the club’s medical team.
Without Gavi, Barcelona have been faring well under their new manager Hansi Flick, who succeeded Xavi. They are yet to drop any points this season, winning all four matches so far in LaLiga. They are top of the standings, four points ahead of reigning champions Real Madrid. The Catalan giants next head away to play against Girona on Sunday.
