Controversial entrepreneur and ‘kanyamata’ dealer, Hauwa Saidu Mohammed aka Jaruma, has set the internet going wild with her explosive claims over her marital issues and struggles with substance abuse. In an interview on the Issues and Society podcast, Jaruma said she did not marry because she was in love but because society pressured her to do so. She frankly stated that sometimes it becomes necessary to actually “rent a husband for content”.
She also dragged celebrity stylist Victoria James, popularly known as Veekee James, into the conversation by saying she was doing the same thing with her husband. The comparison didn’t sit well with many fans, who dragged Jaruma for bringing Veekee into her personal drama. Since then, heated debates have been ongoing on all social media platforms concerning Jaruma’s motives and decision to air such controversial opinions.
As the backlash mounts, it would appear that Jaruma’s audacious claims are stirring something a little more than simple gossip about societal expectations and fevered debate in the public eye about marriage, love, and personal choices.
