Hundreds of protesters had trooped to Wall Street on Monday morning to participate in a sit-in designed to draw attention to Israel’s violence in Gaza.

Protesters dressed in red shirts that read“Jews say stop arming Israel” and “Not in our name” ran to the New York Stock Exchange minutes before the opening bell was rung, calling for an arms embargo and an immediate ceasefire to the war. They were led by a Jewish-led pro-Palestinian group –Jewish Voices for Peace.

The group’s organizers had estimated that 500 people were in attendance; with some sitting on the ground, leaving others holding large signs that read “Fund FEMA not genocide.” A few of the protesters had dramatically chained themselves to a fence outside.

“Endless war, profits soars, arms embargo now!” the group chanted.

The pro-Palestinian group, Jewish Voice for Peace NYC had even taken to X amid the arrests to post;

“As Jews, many of us are descendants of those who survived genocide. Our ancestors taught us to never be bystanders in the face of injustice. We are all responsible for taking action to change the course of history and stop this genocide that is being waged in our name,”

The NYPD had at the time of filing this report, said that at least 206 people were taken into custody at the protest.

The sit-in on Mondag had come after Israel’s military launched another attack Sunday. This particular attack included an airstrike on Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Gaza.

Videos making rounds on social media showed people being burned alive. So far, at least four people have been reportedly killed.

Israel’s Defense Forces had said that the strike was targeting Hamas militants that were allegedly operating out of the hospital.
