The Federal Government has set up a 7-person team to resolve pending issues with university unions, including the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), and the 2009 agreement.
This team, led by Yahaya Ahmed, will make a new agreement that can really help solve the issues in Nigeria’s university system.
The Education Minister, Tahir Mamman, said some problems have been fixed, but others are still being worked on. The ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke, is hopeful for a good outcome and says the union is ready to talk again.
This action was taken after ASUU gave the Federal Government a 14-day warning to fix the disagreements or face another strike.
